Details for our 2017 CMDA Philadelphia Banquet
We’ve announced it in other places, but we’re incredibly excited to share with you the details for our upcoming 2017 CMDA Spring Banquet.
In addition to showcasing God’s work through our ministry, we’re pleased to have Dr Paul Tripp as our speaker this year. Part of our vision is to refresh you spiritually during the evening, and we can’t think of a better speaker to do that than Dr Tripp.
You can find more details on the Save The Date card just below. Hope you can make it!
Many of you have heard about our upcoming missions trip to somewhere in Central America… sometime this coming summer.
Well, our plans are finalized now, so we’re excited to share them with you!
Here’s the quick version:
- What / Where – Medical Missions / Global Health Outreach (GHO, CMDA’s short-term missions arm) trip to San Salvador, El Salvador. This is an established trip, and we have the privilege of joining a work that’s already been effective in helping our church partners plant 12 new churches in about 5 years!
- When – June 17-25, 2017
- Who – healthcare students (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy, and optometry) residents, fellows & professionals (primary care physicians: Family Practice, Pediatric, OB/GYN, Internal Medicine) dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, and physical therapists)
- Why – To serve ‘the least of these’; to help our church partners gain access to new communities, where they hope to plant new churches; to experience God’s transforming power; to bring all that God does back to Philly, further strengthening our community so that it can continue to bless others.
You can learn more, and apply, right here if you’d like. Of course I’m available to answer any questions you might have.
I will speak to one possible obstacle – the cost – up front. While the $2,410 cost for the week may seem high, the trips are top-notch and done very well. It includes airfare, administrative support, the cost of medicines we’ll bring and many other items. I’m happy to coach you through raising the support, and people are typically very eager to contribute towards clear needs like this one. Don’t let raising support scare you away, OK?
CMDA Philadelphia would like to extend a special welcome to our incoming residents and fellows! We’re so glad that God has brought you here and trust that your time in Philadelphia will be blessed despite the intensity of training.
We also give thanks that many of you will be staying for another year.
Old or new, we believe that God is calling us to do more to support you during this challenging season. To that end, we’ll be holding a Welcome Picnic on Saturday, July 12th from 1-4p at the home of a local physician couple. If you’d like more information, please comment below, or, connect with us through our contact page.
Significant others, kids and others who have interest are welcome. Please, though, RSVP by July 5th if possible so we have enough food and beverages for you.
See you there!
Registration for our Fall Student Retreat (Oct. 12-13) has been extended through this Saturday, October 5th! You can register online now at tinyurl.com/phillyfallretreat2013!
This will be a great time to connect with others from your campus, other fellowships, and, most importantly, spend time alone with the Lord.
We hope to see you there!
Save the date! On Oct. 12-13, we’re holding a one-day, overnight retreat for healthcare students around the city. Here are the details:
Where: The Welcoming Place (Akron, PA – just 1 hour from Philadelphia)
Theme: Rest For The Weary (Speakers: Josh Uy, MD; Bryan Stoudt, MDiv)
Cost: $30 covers meals and lodging
Why: This retreat is designed to refresh you through worship, fellowship, biblical teaching and small groups. We’ve also built-in times to rest, slow down, and have fun.
This is a great opportunity to become more deeply connected to your campus fellowship while also meeting others in healthcare training from around the area.
Online registration will open September 9th, but you can read – and see – more now through our brochure. (Since we only have space for 40 students, you may want to register quickly!)
